Terms of use

These terms cover your use of this website and the free assessment. By using either, you agree to them.

Who we are

This website is run by Anirudh KS, Jeevan Kumar B, Shyam UK and Srinivasa Prasad, together as nineight, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (“nineight”, “we”).

We are not a law firm

nineight is software. It records facts about how an organisation handles personal data and shows which obligations under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules those facts touch. It does not give legal advice, and using this website or the assessment does not create a lawyer–client relationship. Legal advice comes only from a lawyer you engage separately.

The assessment

The assessment is free. Its results depend entirely on your answers and are for information only. They are not a finding that you do or do not comply with the law.

Legal information on this site

We keep the legal information here accurate as of the date at the top, but the law and its commencement dates can change. Check the Gazette of India or ask a lawyer before acting on it.

Using this website

Use it lawfully. Do not try to disrupt it, test it for vulnerabilities without our permission, or present its content as your own.

Your personal data

How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy policy and the Cookie policy.

Intellectual property

The nineight name, logo, design, text and code belong to nineight. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with credit.

Liability

The website and the assessment are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on them. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
